Gokyo Lakes Trek

The Gokyo Lakes Trek is a stunning trek in the Everest region that takes you through picturesque Sherpa villages, lush valleys, and alpine meadows, offering spectacular views of Mount Everest, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. The trek leads to the sacred Gokyo Lakes, a series of high-altitude turquoise lakes surrounded by snow-capped peaks, and culminates at Gokyo Ri, offering one of the best panoramic views in the Himalayas. It is a perfect trek for those seeking a less crowded alternative to the Everest Base Camp Trek while still experiencing the beauty of the Everest region.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
– Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
– Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to Phakding
– Fly to Lukla (2,840m) and begin the trek to Phakding (2,610m).
– Trekking time: 3-4 hours.
– Overnight stay in Phakding.
Day 3: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar
– Trek through the Dudh Koshi River valley to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), the gateway to the Khumbu region.
– Trekking time: 6-7 hours.
– Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.
Day 4: Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar
– Explore Namche Bazaar and take a short hike to Everest View Hotel for magnificent views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.
– Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.
Day 5: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole
– Trek through alpine forests and villages to Dole (4,040m).
– Trekking time: 5-6 hours.
– Overnight stay in Dole.
Day 6: Trek from Dole to Machhermo
– Continue the trek to Machhermo (4,470m), passing by yak pastures and offering views of Cho Oyu.
– Trekking time: 4-5 hours.
– Overnight stay in Machhermo.
Day 7: Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo
– Trek to Gokyo (4,790m), passing the first Gokyo Lake and enjoying spectacular views.
– Trekking time: 5-6 hours.
– Overnight stay in Gokyo.
Day 8: Hike to Gokyo Ri and explore Gokyo Lakes
– Early morning hike to Gokyo Ri (5,357m) for panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Lhotse.
– Explore the Gokyo Lakes.
– Overnight stay in Gokyo.
Day 9: Trek from Gokyo to Dole
– Descend back to Dole (4,040m) for an overnight stay.
– Trekking time: 4-5 hours.
Day 10: Trek from Dole to Namche Bazaar
– Continue the trek back to Namche Bazaar (3,440m).
– Trekking time: 5-6 hours.
– Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.
Day 11: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla
– Trek back to Lukla (2,840m).
– Trekking time: 6-7 hours.
– Overnight stay in Lukla.
Day 12: Fly back to Kathmandu
– Fly from Lukla back to Kathmandu.
– Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
