Everest Base Camp (EBC) is a world-famous trekking destination located in the Khumbu region of Nepal, at an altitude of 5,364 meters (17,598 feet). The trek offers breathtaking views of Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, along with other majestic mountains like Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam.
The journey to EBC typically takes 12-14 days, starting from Lukla after a scenic flight from Kathmandu. Trekkers pass through Sherpa villages, monasteries, and dense forests, gradually ascending through the valleys of the Khumbu region. Key highlights include Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, and the Khumbu Icefall.
While the trek to EBC is challenging due to the high altitude, it is accessible to most trekkers with good physical fitness and proper acclimatization. The best times to trek are during the pre-monsoon (March-May) and post-monsoon (September-November) seasons.
